Kilograms
The kilogram (symbol: kg) also known as kilo – is the base measurement unit of mass in the International System of Units (SI). It is defined as being equal to the mass of the International Prototype of the Kilogram (IPK), correlates with the mass of almost one liter of water. It is the only base measurement unit in which prefix («kilo», symbol: «K») is used as a part of its name. Kilogram is very stable, and it is important because 4 of the 7 base units in the SI system are defined relative to the kilogram.
Pounds
The pound or pound-mass (abbreviations: «lb», «lbm», «lbm») is a unit of mass with a number of different definitions. The most common used today is international avoirdupois pounds, which is defined as 0.45359237 kilograms. A pound equals to 16 ounces.
